A Person Can Improve His Or Her Appearance With A Tummy Tuck

By Andrew Moore

A Tummy Tuck is a type of cosmetic surgery. There is a variety of reasons one may seek this procedure. A woman may have lost abdominal muscle elasticity due to multiple pregnancies, or a person may have problem pockets of fat that are resistant to other solutions. Regardless of the reason one pursues such surgery, the end result is typically a firmer, well-defined stomach.

Also referred to as abdominoplasty, the goal of such surgery is to tighten the skin and muscles of the stomach region. In numerous instances, the removal of overstretched skin is necessary. The procedure is regarded as major surgery and takes about three to five hours from beginning to end.

The surgery is always done under general anesthesia. It typically takes approximately a month for a person to completely recover from the procedure. However, recovery time will vary from one person to another.

There are two ways the procedure can be completed. One is referred to as a full procedure, and it is necessary to make two incisions when this option is selected. One incision is made around the person's bellybutton, while the other is made directly above his or her pubic region. The muscles and skin are then pulled together from each side and attached in the middle of one's torso with sutures.

The excess skin and fat are removed, following the reposition of the patient's bellybutton. The end result of the surgery includes tighter muscles, firmer skin, and a narrower waist. Most people are happy with the outcome of a full procedure.

A partial tummy tuck another option one may wish to consider. It is less complex than the aforementioned option. However, it usually only firms the skin and muscles immediately below the belly button. Only one incision is necessary with this procedure, and liposuction is typically part of the process. Cosmetic surgery is not for everyone, and therefore those considering procedures of this type should carefully weigh all the advantages and disadvantages before making a final decision.
